Dental Treatment in Turkey
Implants, veneers and full-mouth work, explained without the sales pitch.
Turkey is one of the largest destinations in the world for dental treatment abroad, above all for implants, All-on-4 and All-on-6 restorations, veneers and crowns. The reasons are structural: clinics that treat international patients in very high volume, materials from the same global implant and ceramic brands used in the UK and Germany, a Ministry of Health licensing system for facilities that treat foreign patients, and prices that are typically a fraction of those at home. The practical point most patients miss is timing: veneers and crowns are usually finished in one trip of 5 to 7 days, while implants normally need two trips, three to six months apart, so that the bone can heal around the implant. Navivera matches you with a licensed clinic, gets you a written treatment plan based on your X-rays before you fly, and one Care Navigator stays with you through both trips and beyond.
Procedures covered
- Dental Implants
- A titanium (or zirconia) post placed in the jawbone to replace a missing tooth root, topped with a crown once the bone has healed around it. Single teeth, bridges or full arches.
- All-on-4 / All-on-6
- A full arch of fixed teeth supported by four or six implants. Temporary fixed teeth are usually fitted within days; the permanent bridge follows after healing.
- Veneers
- Thin porcelain or E-max ceramic shells bonded to the front of the teeth to change colour, shape or small gaps. Requires minimal preparation of healthy enamel.
- Crowns and “Hollywood Smile”
- Full-coverage zirconia or E-max crowns on prepared teeth. A “Hollywood Smile” usually means a set of 16 to 28 crowns or veneers; the honest question is whether your teeth need crowns or whether veneers would preserve more tooth.
- Full Mouth Restoration
- A combined plan for badly worn, broken or missing teeth: implants, crowns, gum treatment and bite correction sequenced over one or two trips.
- Teeth Whitening
- In-clinic professional whitening, usually a single session. Often combined with other treatment rather than a reason to travel on its own.
- Root Canal Treatment
- Cleaning and sealing an infected tooth so it can be kept. Typically done in one or two visits and often part of a larger plan before a crown is fitted.
- Invisalign Orthodontics
- Clear aligners to straighten teeth. Possible from Turkey, but it needs 12 to 24 months of monitoring, so it suits patients who can return or who arrange local follow-up.
Why so many patients choose Turkey for dental work
Dental treatment rewards repetition. A clinic that places implants and fits full-arch restorations every day has a level of routine that a general practice seeing a few cases a year cannot match, and Istanbul, Antalya and Izmir host some of the highest-volume dental clinics in the world.
The materials are the same. Reputable Turkish clinics work with the global implant brands (Straumann, Nobel Biocare and others) and the same zirconia and E-max ceramics used in Western Europe, often with in-house laboratories that turn crowns around in days rather than weeks. That is what makes a one-trip smile makeover possible.
And the cost difference is structural, not a discount: laboratory work, chair time and clinic overheads are simply lower in Turkey, so a full set of crowns or a full-arch implant case that would be out of reach at home becomes realistic.
Who is a good candidate
For implants, the deciding factors are bone volume, gum health and general health. Long-standing gaps, heavy smoking, uncontrolled diabetes or advanced gum disease do not rule implants out, but they change the plan: a bone graft or sinus lift may be needed, which adds healing time and a trip.
For veneers and crowns, the honest assessment is about how much healthy tooth needs to be removed. A good clinic will recommend veneers, or even whitening and bonding, where they will do the job, and reserve full crowns for teeth that are already damaged or heavily filled. If a plan proposes crowning 28 healthy teeth without explaining why, ask why.
One trip or two? Timing is the question that matters most
Veneers, crowns, whitening and root canals are one-trip treatments: typically 5 to 7 days, because an in-house laboratory can make and fit the final ceramics within that window.
Implants are different. After the implant is placed, the bone needs three to six months to fuse around it before the permanent crown or bridge can bear full load. So a standard implant case means two trips: the first (about 5 to 7 days) for planning, extractions and implant placement, often with a temporary tooth or bridge; the second (about 7 to 10 days) for the permanent teeth. Some clinics offer immediate loading in selected cases, but that is a clinical decision made from your CT scan, not a promise made on a website.
How pricing works, and why you will not find a price list here
Dental quotes in Turkey are itemised per unit: per implant, per crown, per veneer, plus any bone graft, sinus lift, extractions or temporary teeth. What moves the total is the implant brand, the ceramic material (zirconia, E-max, porcelain-fused-to-metal), the number of units, whether grafting is needed, and the class of the clinic. Packages usually include hotel and transfers; some include a second-trip hotel, some do not.
Because every mouth is different, a headline price for “a Hollywood Smile” or “an implant” would either mislead you or describe the cheapest material. We would rather have a clinic review your panoramic X-ray and photos and send you a written, itemised plan within 24 hours, with the brand and material named and no change once you commit.
What to check before you book anywhere
Turkey has an official licensing system for facilities that treat international patients, but not every “dental centre” advertising abroad is part of it. Whoever you book with, ask:
- Is the clinic authorised by the Ministry of Health to treat international patients, and who is the treating dentist (name, specialty, registration)?
- Which implant brand and which ceramic material are in the quote, in writing? Will you receive the implant passport (brand, size, lot number) for future dentists?
- Was the plan made from your X-ray or CT scan, or from a photo and a price list?
- What is the warranty on implants and on crowns or veneers, and what does it cover if something fails after you fly home?
- For implants: how many trips, how far apart, and what is included in the second trip?
You can check the first question yourself: the Ministry of Health publishes its list of certified healthcare providers and facilitators on HealthTürkiye. Navivera is happy to be checked there too.
How Navivera approaches it
We are not a clinic and we do not sell a clinic. We work only with dental providers that hold the Ministry of Health authorisation for international patients, and we ask each one the questions above before proposing them to you.
Your Care Navigator collects your X-ray, photos and history, gets a written plan with brands and materials named, explains the trip structure honestly (one trip or two), coordinates both visits, and stays your single point of contact. If a crown chips or a bite feels wrong months later, you message one person who already knows your case and the clinic’s warranty terms.
A typical trip: what happens when
- Before you flyA panoramic X-ray (or CT scan for implants) and photos are reviewed. You receive a written, itemised plan with brands and materials named, and the number of trips confirmed.
- Day 1Arrival and transfer. Clinical examination, new imaging if needed, and a final plan agreed face to face with the dentist. Treatment often starts the same day.
- Days 2 to 4Preparation and the main work: extractions and implant placement, or tooth preparation for veneers and crowns with temporaries fitted. Root canals and gum treatment are done in this window.
- Days 5 to 7Try-in, adjustments and final fitting of veneers or crowns; for implant cases, a temporary tooth or bridge is fitted and healing instructions given. Flight home.
- Second trip (implants), 3 to 6 months laterUsually 7 to 10 days: healing check, impressions or digital scan, try-in and fitting of the permanent crowns or bridge.
Recovery and results: what to expect
- First daysAfter implants or extractions: swelling and mild discomfort for 3 to 5 days, managed with the medication provided; soft foods for one to two weeks. After veneers or crowns: some sensitivity to hot and cold for a few days, and a short period of getting used to the new bite.
- Weeks 2 to 6Gums settle around new crowns or temporaries. Normal eating returns gradually. Any high spot in the bite should be adjusted; with Navivera this is raised with the clinic straight away.
- Months 3 to 6For implants: the bone fuses around the implant (osseointegration). This is the waiting period before the second trip, and the reason it cannot safely be skipped in most cases.
- Long termImplants and zirconia crowns last many years with normal hygiene and check-ups; veneers typically 10 to 15 years. Keep the implant passport and the warranty document with your dental records.
Dental treatment in Turkey: frequently asked questions
Is dental treatment in Turkey safe?
Yes, at clinics authorised by the Ministry of Health to treat international patients and working with recognised implant and ceramic brands. Problems usually trace back to unlicensed operators, overtreatment sold from a price list, or plans made without proper imaging. Navivera only proposes licensed providers and insists on a written plan from your X-ray first.
How many trips do I need for dental implants?
Normally two: the first trip (5 to 7 days) for implant placement with temporary teeth, and the second trip (7 to 10 days) three to six months later for the permanent crowns or bridge. Immediate loading in a single trip is possible in selected cases, decided from your CT scan.
Can veneers or crowns be done in one trip?
Yes. Most smile makeovers with veneers or crowns are completed in 5 to 7 days because the clinic’s laboratory makes the final ceramics on site.
What is the difference between veneers and crowns?
A veneer covers only the front of the tooth and needs very little enamel removed; a crown covers the whole tooth and needs more preparation. Veneers preserve more healthy tooth; crowns are the better choice for teeth that are already damaged, cracked or heavily filled.
Which implant brands are used in Turkey?
Reputable clinics offer the same global brands used in Western Europe, such as Straumann and Nobel Biocare, alongside mid-range brands. The brand should be named in your written quote and recorded on an implant passport you take home.
What happens if something goes wrong after I return home?
Ask for the warranty terms in writing before you book: what is covered, for how long, and whether a return trip is required. With Navivera, your Care Navigator raises the issue with the clinic on your behalf and follows it through to a solution.
Is a “Hollywood Smile” a good idea?
It can be, when the teeth need restoring anyway. Crowning healthy teeth purely for colour is irreversible, so a good clinic will first consider whitening, bonding or veneers. If a quote jumps straight to 28 crowns, ask for the reasoning.
Why does Navivera not show prices?
Because a dental quote depends on the number of units, the implant brand, the ceramic material and whether grafting is needed. We send an itemised, personalised plan within 24 hours of receiving your X-ray; that figure does not change once you commit.
This page is general information prepared by Navivera to help you plan; it is not dental or medical advice. Your treatment plan, materials and the number of trips are decided by the treating dentist after examining you and your imaging. Last reviewed: .
